LIP BLUSH

FAQs

What is Lip Blush?

Lip blushing is a form of semi-permanent makeup that enhances the beauty of the natural lip color, improving the shape of the lips, giving definition and giving a fuller look. Depending on your lifestyle the lip blush should last about 1-3 years.

Who Shouldn’t Get Lip Blush Done?

If you are prone to cold sores, lip blushing may result in an outbreak and cause loss of pigment. We advise you to start taking antiviral medication, prescribed by your doctor and NOT over the counter, 48 hours prior to treatment to prevent an outbreak. As well as 2 weeeks following the appointment to reduce risk.

We don’t perform this procedure on anyone who is under 18 years of age.

How Can I Prepare for my Appointment?

Your lips cannot be dry for the appointment, so it is best to exfoliate 3 days before the procedure to remove any dry skin. For the week leading up to the appointment you must moisturize your lips as much as possible.

Before your lip blushing appointment it’s important to avoid alcohol, Aspirin, and Ibuprofen because they cause bleeding during the procedure. FOR AT LEAST 3 WEEKS PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT, avoid excessive tanning and any lip filler treatments.

Is the Lip Blush process painful?

The pain is surprisingly minimal. Because the skin on your lips is extra porous, the anesthesia is much more effective than some may realize. Some clients have reported a slight pain but in general it is surprisingly painless.

How Long Does Lip Blush Typically Last?

It’s surprisingly not. A topical anesthetic is used during the procedure to numb the brow area. Most clients report a manageable discomfort throughout the procedure.

How Long Does It Take For Lip Blush to Heal?

It usually takes 5-10 days for your lip blushing to heal. During the healing process it’s normal for your lip color to change quite a bit.

Lips heal in three stages: too dark - too light - just right.

When should I come in for a Touch-Up?

You should book for a touch-up 5-6 weeks after your initial appointment. After that it should last for years depending on your lifestyle, and you’d only need to come in when you’d like a color boost.

When do I need a Touch-Up?

The first touch-up should be booked 4-6 weeks of your initial appointment. Your brows may not heal perfectly after the first session, so the second session is used to perfect the brows and add density. After the initial touch-up, you can book a microblading boost once every 1-3 years as needed.

It’s surprisingly not. A topical anesthetic is used during the procedure to numb the brow area. Most clients report a manageable discomfort throughout the procedure.

How can I prepare for my appointment?

Before your microblading appointment it’s important to avoid

  • any skin thinners (Vitamin A, Glycolic Acids or Exfoliation) on the brow area 2 weeks prior to your appointment

  • any waxing or brow shaping should be done at least 2 days before

  • if you tint your brows, tint it at least one week prior to the procedure

  • cosmetic Botox or fillers should be done 2 weeks prior or 2 weeks after

  • alcohol, caffeine or blood thinners (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Niacin 48 hours before your procedure, this will cause excess bleeding and may affect your results)

You may come in with how you normally draw in your brows so I can see what yo are used to. This is especially important for clients who desire a specific brow shape. If you are open to suggestions, I am happy to help you design a custom brow to personally suit you.

Does Microblading Look Natural?

Of course! When done by a professional artist, you’ll be amazed at how precisely they’re able to draw individual hair strokes and blend them with your existing eyebrows.

What is the After Care?

After care is crucial, it is very important to follow these instructions for the full 10 day healing period to ensure proper healing and color retention.

  • Stay out of direct sunlight

  • Allow no water or sweat to collect/sit on the brow area

  • Apply a small amount of the ointment provided to your brows morning and night with clean fingers

  • Oily skin types may be told to avoid ointment all together and allow a dry heal process for the 7-10 days
